Who says that you can't act like a kid when your older?? I say, hell yea I can. If I want to pretend that I can make things magically appear or move on the command of a swish of my wand, where would I go? Universal Studios in Orlando Florida. Now, Ryan and I can take breaks from our SUP adventures, but that doesn't mean we stop the adventures entirely. We’ve got to change it up a bit and what better way than to take a family vacation to Florida. Normally we stay on the beach for a week, but this time we wanted to explore the magical world of Harry Potter. Fire breathing dragon, magical wands that actually work, butterbeer, broomsticks, you name it we experienced it! Ryan and I are huge fans of the books and feature films so this was a very exciting trip and I must say we were very impressed with the amount of detail that went into this park.
Can't get much better than that... Well actually it can. Not only did we get to run around like kids in our favorite fictional stories, but we went back in time and stayed at the Cabana Bay Resort. A 1950’s themed hotel. Cabana Bay was equipped with a Bowling Alley, Lazy River, several pools, bus transportation to the city walk and park and more. Stepping through the doors of the hotel you are greeted by a bellhop with one of those amazing round hats with a chin strap. All the furniture in the lobby and our rooms seemed to be something out of a hollywood film in the 50’s. The pinstripes, and atomic themes were everywhere . If you want an adult beverage, then head to the Swizzle bar directly in between the lobby and pool!
After our second day exploring Universal Studios, Ryan decided to take a “break” and go work out in the hotel fitness center. I joined him reluctantly at first since I was recovering from a knee injury, but as we walked through the doors to the gym, we found that this was no ordinary gym. It was a Jack LaLanne themed fitness center! Those of you who don't know Jack LaLanne, I will enlighten you.. Jack was the man who swam around Alcatraz in shackles.. yes he was handcuffed! So what did we do when we discovered this Jack LaLanne playground, posed and flexed next to his glorified statue ofcourse! Did I forget to mention that we felt like kids on this trip..
We want to thank Ryan's parents, Darren and Denise, for taking us on this family trip and Happy birthday Darren.
We are Ryan and Hannah Fullerton. We built a tiny home between fall and spring of 2014-2015. We sold it in may of 2015 and moved into a travel trailer full-time. We love to explore and go on adventures with friends. Our favorite sports are Stand up paddleboarding, and rock climbing. We train hard in the gym so that our bodies are strong and ready for our outdoor activites. Follow us on our journey to live small, but have big adventures!
