We have been bad about keeping up with the blog in the new year of 2016. So much has changed and we are ready to share all of our big news! We are now working in Springfield Missouri. Ryan is working at Diventures and I am a club manager at Anytime Fitness. We are closer to our SUP shop Ozark Paddle Boards and are getting on the water to paddle every chance we get.
We have done quite a bit of exploring on the rivers in the month of December while testing out the Afla SUP inflatables, but now we are buckling down and training for race season. Ryan will be competing in many races this season including the MR340 in July which will start in Kansas City MO and finish in Saint Louis. Yes, he will be paddling for 340 miles straight! Along with my new responsibilities as a club manager of Anytime Fitness, I will be hosting paddle tours, SUP Yoga/Fitness classes and traveling to near by races in Texas.
We found a great location for our SUP training right along the BransonLanding on LakeTaneycomo. We learned that where we currently live is almost exactly in the middle of Branson and Springfield, 15 minutes to each town from our location. What's amazing about this spot is that you have an audience. When Ryan and I first learned to paddle we were sharing a foam board and took turns while one of us waited on the rock shore of the river. Now we have high end Alfa SUP race boards and training boards. Looking back on how it used to be, I appreciate the paddles Ryan and I share that much more!
We had no idea what it was like to paddle with someone else. We were so isolated in our previous location, where only a couple fisherman passed us by during our paddles. Coming to Branson Landing in the winter, we expected it to be somewhat similar, a ghost town during the cold months. To our surprise, the restaurant balcony's were filled with lively locals and tourists and many of the shops had their doors open greeting customers on the walk. We paddled with excitement seeing these events and we couldn't help but to go up to these people and tell them all about Stand up Paddle boarding. Many people waved at us and took our picture, only a few actually had the courage to come and ask us questions. Many asked me if my feet were cold and how often I fall in. All these questions really put me back to the first time I saw someone Stand up paddle boarding in Florida. Back then I thought it was amazing and fun but had the same doubts about the sport back in the Midwest. We have learned so much about how to make this sport thrive in the harsh conditions here that now without hesitation we can take it on as a challenge and enjoy our paddle.
We are Ryan and Hannah Fullerton. We built a tiny home between fall and spring of 2014-2015. We sold it in may of 2015 and moved into a travel trailer full-time. We love to explore and go on adventures with friends. Our favorite sports are Stand up paddleboarding, and rock climbing. We train hard in the gym so that our bodies are strong and ready for our outdoor activites. Follow us on our journey to live small, but have big adventures!
